Thinking About Your New Year Goals?

Hi Reader,

We're inching closer and closer to the new year. Sheesh! Did it fly by for you too? I managed to move across states and finally participated in more in-person art events. I have a tiny and cozy home with a workspace by a big window. My indie shop is finally coming together after a decade of it falling apart. So many wishes granted.

What were your goals for this year? Do you usually choose a specific milestone to focus on each year? Or do you wing it?

I've learned over the years that if I don't choose a specific "goal" or what I prefer "milestone" I wander around aimlessly busy without actually making progress on what's important.

10 Tips for Finally Living Your New Year Dreams and Goals

Over the years I've gotten better at achieving my dreams. The lessons came at the cost of failure after failure and redefining what success and a happy life look like.

Book Fair Memories

My kiddo had to come along with me for the book fair event. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect from a 3-year old at a mostly adult event. She was an angel despite the unplanned situation. It was a strange experience for the both of us but we made the best of it. Instead of focusing on promoting my work and wares I focused on sharing with her the logistics, hard-work, mechanics of being an independent creator, and greeting others with a genuine spirit. After repairing 1 very understandable meltdown, we ended the day by going to see Zootopia 2 and eating a lot of candy!

Thank you for the gift of your precious time.

Hugs, Yanuary

Archival Prints About Newsletter Hi Reader, As an artist and parent, I've had to juggle full-time parenting and working full-time for about three years. I have the grey hairs to prove it! I've done all the things possible to protect my mind from the stress of it all (self-care, therapy, journaling, finding support) but it's still a challenging experience to go through. Our minds can only handle so much before it becomes "too much." I like to share what it's like to offer comfort that hard...
